No DLC is essentail just adds depth / fun like chapters to the game. All separate stories and returns you to the game once you finish. Get them all you will enjoy them. Tons of mysteries and fun activities to do. DLC Pribyslavitz is given to you to rebuild a town. Earn lots of money. Band of Bastards is really good .
