Yet if it was a GW2 server issue, one would think others outside of OZ would also be having problems. As of a couple of mins ago when I exited game it was still going, chat was acting up and slow and the party I was in lost everyone, most where friends that all went offline and then all came back online and part auto reformed again.

Disable your firewall protection through your anti virus. I did this with AVG and it worked. turned back on after it finished downloading. Works fine.
